When this began, I didn’t know what an “influencer” was. The meanings of “follow,” “like,” and “hashtag” weren’t part of my vernacular, and 2 p.m. was just an empty space between personal training clients. When this began, I also lived in fear of dementors dominating my daily life.
Humans have a deeply rooted anthropological need to connect—to be part of a tribe, to belong, and to know we’re not alone. Without meaningful support systems, we consciously or subconsciously wither.
Enter social media: a global platform for connection. What once required physical proximity and cultural overlap now happens in real time across borders. But with great connection comes great responsibility—and consequences.
The greatest leaders are not the ones who lead for the sake of leading. They vehemently resist the lure of a nameplate, a corner office, or profit at the cost of the people they’re tasked with guiding. They feel an inexplicable pull to nurture, mentor, and amplify the growth of others — not because it benefits their résumé, but because it’s who they are at the core.
I was about four years old, my parents had divorced and Mama took to the keys of her piano with different tone. She’s always been a dreamer, artist, and entrepreneur. Her most valuable role was that of “mom.” This just wasn’t the solo act she had imagined.
Cannabis, or Marijuana, has had a residency at the round tables of philosophy, religion, and medicine since 2000 B.C.E.. Long before the socio-political revolutions of the counter cultures of the 1960s and 70s, that served as a catalyst of exploration.
Success is a subjective metric. In a digital age, we are subjected to highlight reels of materialism creating a hierarchy of holier-than-thou entrepreneurs espousing unattainable–frankly unfulfilling–ideals of success. A bourgeois brownie badge of esteem entitled to an empire. It’s like an algorithmic assault on your right to clarify your own summits of success.
Leaving humans — that are currently chasing dreams while being chased by their demons — left to feel less than enough, burnt out, and hungry.
